It's a new year and not my favourite time of year.....brrrrrrrrrrrrr

Yep, it's winter!  If you are Digger or Angel you love it!  They are big and furry.  Me, not so much. I think I must be part bear as I would love to hibernate and sleep through to spring....well, almost.  Christmas is fun!  I like the new toys I got and I had a great time being an elf and delivering Star Boxes to kids in need.

It's too cold for me to go on long hikes through the woods and fields with my friends or even my regular walks through the neighbourhood.  I've noticed the same of my friends.  I don't see many of them walking around.  I think we are all waiting for warmer weather.

Dog people, please remember when you try to take us out in winter that not all of us are build like Digger and Angel.  Some of us were bypassed in the furry line and find it freezing outside.....if you, without fur as well, find it cold, so do we.  Please look at getting us warm jackets to wear.

Also, all joking aside, we really can't sleep through until spring.  While we may not be able to go on long walks and play outside with our friends as much as we would like to, we can't just sit around doing nothing.  We get that the kids have hockey, taekwondo (that's for my friend Jessy), dance and skating as well as swimming lessons and homework.  We understand that there is not as much sunlight as in summer and when you get home you have things to do and may just want to relax.  We get all that, but please remember to do more than feed us...

Summer to fall and then winter is a big change for us short haired dogs.  Without an outlet for our energy, we sometimes can get into trouble....we don't mean to misbehave, but like I said, with nothing to do, we sometimes cannot ignore that slipper calling us to chew.....woof...Taking us on a short car rides when possible is exciting. We like to see the world, feel the sunshine and be part of the action.  New toys where we have a puzzle to solve are great.  They allow us to play independently, keep our brains occupied and if there is a treat as a reward, so much the better!  On the warmer winter days, we love the chance to take a short walk outside but please no marathons and always make sure we have a jacket for warmth.

Remember we love you and are members of the family -- spend a few fun minutes each day with us!

Woof!

p.s. I didn't want to write this part but was told I should.....Woof!.....also, remember that if we aren't out running around as much, we may not need the same amount of food (I don't necessarily agree with this...Woof!).  To prevent weight gain and joint issues, keep an eye on our size and adjust our food amount accordingly (again, as a dog, I don't agree...Woof! Treats are always appreciated!).
