Summer is here.  It arrived early this year.  I like summer.  Woof!  I love summer!

The other day I went to the beach.  Woof!  I love the beach!

Every dog should get to play at the beach.  It was not so hot there and the water was cold. 

We went on the ferry and there were lots of humans, big and small, bikes and other dogs.  The ferry ride was ok.  Me and Lenny and Sebastian stayed downstairs and took it easy.  There are lots of people who like dogs on the ferry.  Most of them thought we were handsome.  I guess, that time, Lenny didn't have his tongue hanging out! Woof!

Little Cinnamon (that's him in the picture with Lenny) rode the top level of the ferry with my other cousin JP.  They got to see a view of the city from the water.  There were lots of people out on boats...I've never been on a sailboat but it looked like fun.  I know it was cooler on the ferry than it was in the city.  Lenny and Sebastian's car doesn't have air conditioning and they said it was very hot sitting in traffic in the car.  We think it would be even nicer on one of those zippy boats.

The islands are almost dog heaven!!  No cars.  And trees! Woof! The trees!!  There were more trees than one dog could ever dream of peeing on in one day! Woof!! It was kinda hot, but there was lots of shady spots if we wanted them.  Woof! Did I mention, there were lots of trees?

JP brought his own bike.  He loves bike riding!  Him and I have gone riding together before.  Don't worry though, if you don't have a bike, they rent them on the island.  One person bikes. Two people bikes or even funny bikes for four people! Many even have baskets for little dogs like Sebastian.  If the little dogs get tired, they can ride in the basket. Thinking about it, I guess if you had a cat, they could ride in the basket, too.  But I didn't see any cats at the beach and I don't think they like to ride bikes.

It's ok if you don't have a bike.  It's nice to walk. You can also stop and have a picnic....mmmmm....Woof! I love picnics! Woof!

We stopped to play on the beach.  The water was nice and cold.  It was too cold for me to want to go swimming, but Lenny has a furry coat, so he liked it.  He went all the way in.  JP and my Aunt threw sticks for us and we got them back.  Sebastian was a bit tired and he relaxed on the beach in the shade for a while.  Lots of people were doing that.  We only ever saw two humans in the water.  They sure looked frozen!

 Listen all dogs.  There are some rules at the beach.  You can't go running up to the people sitting or lying on the beach.  They are not there to play with you.  Woof! I got told that. If they ask to play with you, it's ok.  If not, you gotta leave them alone. Also, you can't pee or poop on the beach.  That is not allowed!  If you follow those rules, you'll have lots of fun.

Oh yeah! One more.  Not so much a rule....but I gotta tell you this one.  Don't roll around in the sand when you're wet.  No matter how good it feels.  No one will understand.....they'll just look at you, shake their heads, laugh and then toss you in the water to rinse off.....you'll have to start all over, if you can get away to do it a second time!

After we had played in the water and were much cooler, we took some more time to play on the grass.  I ran off some energy,  visited some trees and played.  By this point, Little Cinnamon had perfected his stick tossing skills and was right in the middle of the fun.

I gotta say, we had a good time.  Woof! I love the beach! More than that, I love having fun.  Everyone was happy and took the time to play.  Sometimes humans forget to play.  That is why they have us dogs and kids...we remind them.  There is always time for fun.  Also, if you are like me and Sebastian,  you gotta make the most of the warm weather.  Lenny is good in the cold, but needs to take care when it gets too hot.  For that his mom, my aunt, always carries water and makes sure he doesn't overheat. 

We played with sticks but I still had a ball! Woof! Thanks JP for always being up for an adventure and fun.  Thanks too for letting me rest my head on your lap on the way home!  The beach was fun.  Woof! Now, two days later, I'm ready to go again!

When the weather gets too hot, stay cool.  Play somewhere with water to cool off in and lots more to drink.  Make sure there is shade to keep you cool and if you need to, take a break like Sebastian did.  Find someone as great as JP and find the adventure that is waiting for you!
